Thornton Grout Finnigan (TGF) is a dynamic law firm located in the heart of Toronto’s financial district. Recognized for its leading commercial litigation and insolvency practice, the firm’s high-profile clients include global financial institutions, regulatory agencies, and publicly traded companies.
The firm needed a new office space to accommodate future growth and reflect its corporate culture. After considering several relocation options, TGF decided to renovate its existing space in the TD West Tower instead. The 16,800 sq. ft. office was completely redesigned to use space more efficiently. It now includes additional workstations, uniform size offices and improvements to the lobby, reception, collaboration and printing areas to suit the needs of their talent.
The new space embodies a welcoming and professional atmosphere that highlights a breathtaking view of the Toronto skyline. Glass-front meeting rooms of various sizes provide bright and flexible spaces to meet with clients in intimate or large groups. All meeting rooms are equipped with new audio-visual (AV) systems including video and audio conferencing. A movable partition also enables the largest meeting room to be reconfigurable and seamlessly connects to the AV and lighting systems.
Our Colliers Project Leaders team provided comprehensive project management oversight from the start to finish, including furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E) and audio-visual (AV) services for the office redesign. To support TGF consult its associates during the planning and design phases, our team put together a communications strategy that enabled timely decision making. This included a weekly approvals dashboard highlighting changes to the project plan, upcoming decisions, available design options and project milestones. This weekly summary and decision matrix allowed the team to make this an inclusive process for TGF associates each step of the way.
Tasked with outfitting the office with new furniture, office equipment and audio-visual equipment, our team managed various design workshops led by the design firm. We built a team that included an interior design consultant, engineers and an audio-visual engineer to present TGF with thoughtful options for an elegant and functional design. We worked closely with TGF and the consultants to ensure all options met their success criteria, and stayed on scope, schedule and budget.
Like many organizations, TGF shifted to remote work once COVID-19 restrictions were introduced. This left the office empty, which enabled the team able to complete construction in a single phase. Comprehensive health and safety protocols, such as temperature checks and frequent cleaning, allowed the team to move forward with construction safely.
With the construction completed in a timely and efficient manner, the redesigned office is ready to welcome TGF staff and clients in 2021.
